In 2004, the now former Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Trevor Phillips, drew comparison between the racism towards Gypsies and Travellers in the UK to that of the racism towards black people living in the south of America during the 1950s.
In light of this marginalisation, our goal at MCT is to serve Travelling communities in an effort to help address some of the problems they face within society. Our work is focused at the grassroots level; we seek to build trust with communities, provide long term support and place an emphasis on serving rather than patronising those who we work with. We work through a committed team of Trustees, staff, volunteers and partner organisations. We are growing rapidly and currently work in over 30 counties.
